Algorithmic Discrimination in Healthcare
#NEIGHBORSNOTNUMBERS

Algorithms are increasingly used to make health care decisions. In one example, an algorithm was used to rank patients and predict who would benefit from additional care. The algorithm was found to have significant racial biases, favoring white patients over black patients who were sicker and had more chronic health conditions.

An estimated 200 million people each year are affected by similar tools used by hospital networks, health care systems, and governmental agencies.
